Efficiency and Productivity Analysis

Description: The training will help to understand the basic concepts of efficiency, productivity and their measurements. The training is intended to enhance the conceptual, methodological and analytical capacity of trainees on efficiency and productivity analysis using real-world using cross-sectional and panel datasets and different frontier using STATA software.

Content: The training covers the following topics:

Topic 1: Fundamentals of Linear and Frontier Models

• Fundamentals of productivity and efficiency
• Software, regression modeling and modification of OLS

Topic 2: Formulation and Estimation of Various Production Functions in Frontier Models

• Cobb-Douglas production function
• Translog production function
• Transcendental production function

Topic 3: Essentials of Frontier Models

• Estimation methods of stochastic frontier models
• Estimation of stochastic cross-sectional frontier model

Topic 4: Estimation of stochastic Panel Frontier Model

Topic 5: Estimation of Efficiency

• Estimation of efficiency scores
• Estimation of inefficiency models
• Identification of sources of inefficiencies

Target Group: The training is suited to researchers, students, policy analysts, practitioners, private researchers and consultants.

Requirements: A minimum of BSc/BA degree in economics and related fields of study. In addition,personal lap top computer with Windows 10 or higher versions. Exposure of analytical software packages such as STATA.
