EEA has organized a five days Capacity Building Training using DASP software

The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) organized a five days short term capacity building training on Applied Welfare Analysis using DASP Stata software from April 4-8, 2022 at EEA, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Dr. Degye Goshu, Director of Research and Policy Analysis at the EEA has made a welcome an opening remark. In his remark, Degye has introduced the main purpose of organizing such training to EEA members and it partners. The aim of this training is to equip training participants with practical skills of data management, manipulation, analysis, and interpretation of findings using real-world datasets using statistical packages.

A total of 25 academicians, researchers, and partitioners from government and non-government institutions attended the training. The training was offered by Dr. Sisay Debebe, from Addis Ababa University and Mr. Aemro Tazez from Haramaya University. During the five days training, the participants were introduced to the techniques of welfare analysis using the DASP Stata package.

Ethiopian socio-economic panel data of 2012, 2014 and 2016 were used to exercise analysis of the welfare situation in Ethiopia. Participants were allowed to provide comments and suggestion for future improvement. The participants expressed their appreciation to the EEA for organizing such effective practical training. They also commented EEA to expand access and scope of the training to regions and chapters.

Certificate for successful accomplishment of the training and closing remark was made by Dr. Semeneh Bessie, Partnership and Communication Director of EEA. In his closing remark, Semeneh has thanked the trainers and participants, EEA staff for their successful organization of the training.

The training cost is fully covered by Open Society Initiative for East Africa (OSIEA), and EEA is thankful for the organization.
