The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) in collaboration with the World Food Program (WFP) co-organized a five days short term capacity building training on Applied Welfare Analysis using DASP Stata software from January 24 to 28, 2022 at EEA, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Ms. Esther Kabaire, MAEL director of the WFP has made an official remark. A total of 14 World Food Program (WFP) staff attended the training. The training was offered by Dr. Degye Goshu, a Researcher and Director of Research and Policy Analysis at the EEA. During the five days training, the participants were introduced to the techniques of welfare analysis using the DASP Stata package. The Ethiopian Household Consumption and Expenditure Survey (HCES) and Welfare Monitoring Survey (WMS) dataset were used to exercise analysis of the welfare situation in Ethiopia. The WFP training participants expressed their appreciation to the EEA and Dr. Degye for organizing such effective practical training. They also requested EEA to strengthen the partnership with WFP for future collaborative capacity building training and research endeavors.
After delivering the training completion certificateto the trainees, conclusion and closing remark was made by Prof Mengistu Ketema, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EEA. In his closing remark, Mengistu has appreciated WFP staff for choosing EEA. Mengistu has also promised to establish and strengthen the EEA-WFP partnership collaboration on common areas of interest for the two institutions.
