Dear EAA members,
The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) organized a half day policy forum on ‘Urban Land Policy, Housing and Inflation in Ethiopia’ on December 29, 2021 at Best Western Plus Pearl Addis Hotel. At the forum two presentations was made on ‘Land Policy, Housing and Real Estate Markets in Urban Ethiopia’ by H.E. Dr. Mekuria Haile, Civil Service Commission Commissioner, and on ‘Inflation in Ethiopia: Causes, Costs and Policy Option’ by Dr. Degye Goshu. Dr. Amdissa Teshome, president of EEA, has officially opened the event. The Policy Forum chaired by Dr. Getachew Diriba, food system senior advisor at Ministry of Agriculture and Dr. Tadele Ferede from Addis Ababa University.
About 50 participants from government officials, parliament members, private sector representatives, CSOs, and EEA members attended the Policy Forum. The participants have raised questions and provided suggestions that improve the contents of the presentations. They also recognized that the Policy Forum largely focused on current and critical issues that can contribute to the economic reform that the Government has pursued at the moment.
The forum was closed by Prof. Mengistu Ketema, Chief Executive Officer of EEA, recognising
Presenters, participants and organizing committee of the EEA. He also expressed his gratitude for Open Society Initiative for Eastern Africa (OSIEA) for the financial support.
