The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) has signed Contract Agreement with Somali Regional State Revenue Bureau (SRSRB) on February 2, 2023 to carry out a study on ‘Revenue Potential of the Somali Regional State’.
The main objective of the research is to investigate the revenue potential, tax bases, and administration capacity of Somali Regional State. The study will specifically assess the current fiscal performance of the regional state; estimate the tax and non-tax revenue potentials; forecast the tax revenue potential; the tax administration capacity of the region and tax payers’ perception towards tax policies, regulation, procedures and administration at district, urban administrations and regional levels.
Deputy Head of the Somali Regional State Revenue Bureau, Mr. Abdulkadir Mohammed Shukn and Dr. Degye Goshu, Director of Research and Policy Analysis of the EEA signed the agreement.
During the signing ceremony, Mr. Abdulkadir Mohammed and Dr. Degye Goshu underscore the importance of the research to the regional socio-economic development. The two parties also agreed to further enhance partnership and collaboration in research, training and consultancy services. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials of the two institutions. The EEA would like to thank Somali Regional State Revenue Bureau for their hospitality and giving chance to EEA to undertake the research.
