Introducing our new CEO

We are pleased to introduce that Professor Mengistu Ketema Aredo is assigned as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ethiopian Economic Association (EEA), effective as of June 1/2021.

By profession, Prof Mengistu Ketema is a Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics.

He obtained his BSc and MSc degrees in 1999 and 2003, respectively, in Agricultural Economics from Haramaya University and his Ph.D. Degree in Agricultural Economics in 2010, from Justus-Liebig University of Giessen, Germany.

Prof Mengistu has served as a lecturer, assistant professor, associate professor, and a professor at Haramaya University for 17 years.

Prior to joining EEA, Prof Mengistu held senior leadership roles at Haramaya University. He served as a Director of Research Extension and Publication at Haramaya University for 7 years (2012 to 2019), Associate Editor of the East African Journal of Sciences for about 8 years. He has also successfully coordinated and completed many collaborative projects at Haramaya University. He has published about 65 articles in reputable journals, 20 proceeding papers, and five book chapters. He supervised 20 PhD students and more than 65 MSc students to completion excluding those in the pipe line for completion. He has served as a Senior Researcher, Director for Research and Policy Analysis at the EEA and until recently acting as CEO of the Association. With his rich experiences, tolerance and dedication, we are sure that together we can bring tremendous achievements in EEA.
