During the plenary session, titled “Global Strategy in Building National Capacity in Generating Contextualized Data to Inform Policy and Practice for Resilience and Recovery”. During the session, H. E Tirumar Abate, state minister of ministry of planning and development, Prof. Beyene Petros, Director General of Policy Studies Institutions, and representatives of the Ethiopian Statistical Services have made their presentation. The panelists have presented on the role of data for evidence based decision making and experiences designing inclusive planning and national Strategy and Capacity building. They also mentioned challenges that are adversely affecting lives and livelihoods as well as the overall economic development of the country. Given all these challenges, they addressed that there is no doubt that the country needs objective scientific evidences and efforts from such reputable associations such as EEA. Prof. Mengistu Ketema , the CEO of the EEA has moderated this high level panel at the closing session.
