Policy Analysis, Development, and Implementation

Description: This short term training intends to enhance the capacity of key policy and development partners on Policy Analysis, Development and Implementation.The training will cover concept, theoretical and practical approaches of Policy Analysis, Development and Implementation. The training will employ tools and techniques of policy formulation and monitoring and evaluation using hands-on exercises in the Ethiopian context.

Content: The training covers the following topics: 

Topic 1: Introduction

• What is policy?
  • The Genesis
  • Philosophical framework
  • Policy analysis framework

Topic 2: Public Policy Fundamentals

• The importance and goals of public policy
• Individuals and strategic interactions in policy making
• Institutions and public policy practice

Topic 3: Policy Evaluation Methods

• Policy formulation
• Quantitative skills for public policy analysis
• Policy evaluation
• Policy communication

Topic 4: Producing Policy

• Representation, accountability, and public policy
• Challenges for the Ethiopian public policy

Target Group: The training is suited to practitioners, private sectors, federal and regional planning and development experts, M&E experts, researchers, academia, and CSOs.

Requirements: A minimum of BA/BSc degree in economics, business and development and other related discipline.
