2. Reports to the Director of Research and Policy Analysis
Company background: The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) was established in 1991 as a non-profit, non-partisan, and non-religious professional association. The EEA has interrelated objectives of supporting economic policy design through producing reliable and independent scientific evidence; enhancing economics and development research and dissemination; promoting the discipline of economics; serving as a platform for dialogue on economic issues; promoting the professional interest of its members; and facilitating professional networking between Ethiopian economists and those in other countries.
3. Job summary: The major responsibilities of the Researcher II are to assist the Senior and Lead
Researchers to collect, document, and analyze technical and statistical data on the Ethiopian
Economy, prepare research reports on research activities of the EEA offers training and
technical assistance to stakeholders of the EEA, prepare grant and funding proposals, present
research outputs in workshops, conferences, and other events, and engage in other activities
related to research, training, and dissemination of research outputs.
4. Specific duties:
1.1. Prepares technical and financial proposals and ToRs of research and training activities.
1.2. Conducts research on selected thematic areas of the EEA.
1.3. Prepares grant proposals to mobilize financial and non-financial resources.
1.4. Offers training and technical assistance to stakeholders in his/her area of specialization.
1.5. Collects primary and secondary data to enhance the economic database of the Association.
1.6. Organizes, manages and analyzes economic and statistical data and prepares research reports.
1.7. Reviews theoretical and empirical literature and analyzes data to prepare research reports.
1.8. Supervises and evaluates research projects undertaken by the EEA.
1.9. Prepares policy and research briefs on outputs of research, training, and policy forums.
1.10. Prepares progress reports on the major activities of the EEA under his/her scope
1.11. Engages in dissemination of research outputs and other information generated by the EEA, and
1.12. Performs other duties as required and as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor.
5. Job Specifications
5.1. Education: Minimum MA/MSc degree in economics: health economics, Trade and industrial development economics, development economics, gender economics, gender and development, and other fields related to economics.
Experience:
5.2.1. At least 5 years of relevant work experience in research and related activities after MA/MSc degree.
5.2.2. At least three publications in related fields.
5.2.3. Fertile skill in using statistical/econometric software packages like Stata, DASP, and GAMS, and
5.2.4. Excellent skills in spoken and written English.
6. Salary: As per the salary scale of EEA, which is attractive with additional benefits. It is also
negotiable depending on the professional profile and expertise of the applicant.
