Young Scholar’s Generosity Enhances EEA Library Resources

Addis Ababa, January 3, 2025: Demonstrating an inspiring spirit of generosity and commitment to knowledge sharing, Mr. Getachew Teklemariam, a senior program officer at CoDA and a distinguished young member of the Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA), has donated a valuable collection of books to the EEA Library.

The donation was formally celebrated in a special ceremony attended by Professor Mengistu Ketema, CEO of the EEA, and members of the management team. Professor Mengistu commended Mr. Getachew for his thoughtful contribution, noting that the donated works cover contemporary issues and will greatly benefit researchers and practitioners. He highlighted that such generosity from a young professional reflects a commendable dedication to academic advancement. Mr. Demirew, another senior figure in attendance, echoed this sentiment, praising both the breadth of the collection and Mr. Getachew’s passion for economic scholarship.

Now housed in a dedicated section of the EEA Library, the donated collection offers a wealth of knowledge and serves as an inspiration for students, policymakers, and researchers. It symbolizes Mr. Getachew’s deep commitment to fostering intellectual growth and his belief in the power of shared learning.

“This act of generosity by a young scholar exemplifies the spirit of sharing and goodwill among professionals,” remarked Professor Mengistu. “Mr. Getachew’s efforts will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the academic community and inspire others to follow his example.”

The Ethiopian Economics Association invites all its members and the wider academic community to visit the library and engage with the newly donated collection. This exceptional contribution highlights how age is no barrier to making a meaningful difference and promoting intellectual progress through acts of kindness and knowledge sharing.
