On May 25, 2024, the Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) proudly announced the opening of its 8th regional chapter during its first regional conference on the Economic Development of the Afar Region. This significant event was co-organized by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), the EEA, and Samara University.
The regional chapters of the EEA serve as essential mechanisms to address and link regional needs with the association’s broader objectives. They facilitate collaboration between the regions and the EEA, ensuring that local issues are effectively addressed through informed and targeted economic research and policy analysis.
The establishment of the EEA’s regional chapter at Samara University marks a crucial step towards enhancing the dissemination of research outputs and ensuring the quality of economics education in the Afar region. This new chapter is expected to play a pivotal role in spearheading efforts to provide a platform for ongoing research, dialogue, and action towards sustainable economic development.
