Ethiopian Economics Association Kicks Off Qualitative Data Management and Analysis Training

Addis Ababa, March 14, 2025 – The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) is pleased to announce the launch of a comprehensive training on “Qualitative Data Management and Analysis: Applying ATLAS.ti” training, which began today. This timely training, taking place from March 14 to 16, 2025, aims to equip EEA members and staff with the essential skills for managing and analyzing qualitative data effectively using the powerful ATLAS.ti software.

The training, offered to members and research staff of the EEA, has been made possible thanks to the generosity of volunteer trainer Dr. Dagne Getachew, whose dedication to empowering others with valuable technical skills has been greatly appreciated by the association. Dagne’s commitment to sharing his expertise in qualitative data analysis through ATLAS.ti will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the participants’ ability to conduct sophisticated data management and analysis for their research and policy work.

In his opening speech, Abule Mehare, Director of Partnership and Communication at the Ethiopian Economics Association, expressed sincere gratitude for Dagne’s selfless contribution. “This training is an invaluable opportunity for our members to gain crucial skills in data management and analysis, and we are truly grateful to Dagne Getachew for offering his time and expertise generously,” said Abule. “His support underscores the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in advancing economic research and analysis.”

The training will cover a wide range of topics, including an introduction to ATLAS.ti, data transcription, qualitative data management, and advanced analysis tools such as the Word Cruncher, Query Tool, and Co-occurrence tools. Participants will also gain insights into theory building and visualization, helping them build strong foundations for data-driven decision-making.

The Ethiopian Economics Association is excited about the potential impact of this training and looks forward to the enhanced data capabilities it will foster among its members. Dr. Dagne’s commitment to giving back to the community reflects the core values of the association, and his generous offering will continue to benefit the participants long after the conclusion of the event.

We extend our deepest appreciation to Dagne for his outstanding generosity and contribution to this vital initiative.
