Arba Minch, Ethiopia — April 3, 2026
The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) held an inspirational and advocacy session for students and faculty members of the Economics Department at Arba Minch University today, aimed at strengthening engagement with young economists and promoting active participation in the association.
The session officially opened with welcoming remarks by Dr. Fassil Eshetu, who introduced the Ethiopian Economics Association to the students and underscored its role as the leading professional body for economists in Ethiopia. He encouraged students to give close attention to the session, actively engage, and take the opportunity to learn more about the association and its contributions to research, policy dialogue, and national development.
Following the opening, Mr. Dawit Teshale, representing the association, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the mission, vision, and key activities of the EEA. He highlighted the importance of connecting students with professional networks and encouraged them to take advantage of opportunities that support both academic growth and career development.
During the session, Mr. Eyob Wondimeneh emphasized the practical benefits of EEA membership. He explained that students can register online and gain access to the association’s membership portal, which provides valuable resources such as data links, research materials, and licensed digital tools including Power BI. He encouraged students to utilize these tools to enhance their skills and remain competitive in the evolving field of economics.
The session concluded with inspiring remarks from Dr. Abule Mehare, who motivated students by emphasizing their future role in the association. He noted that “this is your home, and you are the future leaders who will guide and strengthen the Ethiopian Economics Association.” He urged students to stay motivated, take responsibility, and actively contribute to the advancement of the profession.
The event forms part of the association’s broader initiative to expand its outreach to universities and nurture the next generation of economists.
