Arba Minch, Ethiopia — April 4, 2026

The Ethiopian Economics Association has signed two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening partnerships and advancing regional economic development in the South Ethiopia Regional State. The agreements were formalized during the First Annual Conference on South Ethiopia Regional State Economic Development, held in collaboration with Arba Minch University.

The first MoU was signed between the Ethiopian Economics Association and the South Ethiopia Regional State Planning and Development Bureau, represented by Dr. Addis Kassahun, Vice President of EEA, and Mr. Zekarias Zassa. This agreement is expected to enhance collaboration in policy research, data analysis, and evidence-based planning to support the region’s development agenda.

The second MoU was concluded between the Ethiopian Economics Association and the South Ethiopia Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations, represented by Dr. Addis Kassahun and Eng. Bogale Bitane, President of the Chamber. This partnership aims to strengthen engagement with the private sector, promote market-oriented research, and facilitate dialogue on key economic issues affecting businesses in the region.

These strategic agreements mark an important step toward building strong institutional linkages among academia, government, and the private sector. They are expected to foster joint research initiatives, capacity-building programs, and policy dialogue platforms that contribute to sustainable and inclusive economic growth in South Ethiopia.
