Book Launch Workshop

The Ethiopian Economics Association/EEA/ in collaboration with FRIEDRICH EBERT STIFTUNG of Germany held a book launching workshop on 29 October 2022 at Inter Luxury hotel, Addis Ababa.

The title of the Book is “INFLATION AND THE ETHIOPIAN ECONOMY Constraints, Drivers, Costs and Policy Option”. Prof. Mengistu Ketema, the CEO of the EEA, delivered a welcome address and opened the event. On the occasion, Prof. Mengistu briefed the participants on the major activities of EEA and acknowledged the sponsor FRIEDRICH EBERT STIFTUNG of Germany.

The main objective of the event was to promote, introduce and disseminate the book to policy makers, practitioners, academia, researchers, stakeholders, and the general public. The dissemination workshop covers a brief presentation by Dr. Arega Shumetie, the book co-author, reflection by reviews, and discussion by participants. The event helps the EEA to enhance its policy advocacy and collect feedback for improving future book editions.

Dr. Tasew Tadesse from Dilla University and Mr. Zewdie Adane from World Food Program were the book reviewers who reflected their view on the book. Workshop participants invited from various institutions have also provided their appreciation and feedback on the quality and relevance of the book. Having valuable discussions, Dr. Mrs Sindu Abebe the EEA’s Executive committee member, Dr. Gezahegn Ayele, the EEA advisory board member and Prof Mengistu Ketema have officially launched the book for use.

A total of 52 Institutional representatives who came from House of Peoples Representatives, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Plan and Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Policy Study Institute, Addis Ababa university, Ethiopian Science Academy, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, among others, have attended the event.
