Hawassa, Ethiopia — March 14, 2026

The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) and the Sidama Regional State Planning and Development Bureausigned a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in research, policy analysis, and capacity building.

The agreement was signed during the economic development conference held at Hawassa University. Dr. Yohannes Yona signed the agreement on behalf of the Sidama Regional State Planning and Development Bureau, while Dr. Worku Gebeyehu, Member of the Executive Committee of the Ethiopian Economics Association and Editor-in-Chief of The Ethiopian Journal of Economics, signed on behalf of the association.

Officials noted that the MoU is expected to facilitate joint research, knowledge sharing, and policy dialogue between the two institutions, contributing to informed decision-making and sustainable economic development in Sidama Regional State
