The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Selale and Woldia Universities on January 10, 2026, during the 5th Annual Workshop of the Consortium of Ethiopian Economics Departments (CEED) held at the EEA Meeting Hall in Addis Ababa.
The MoUs were signed by Professor Tassew Woldehanna, President of the Ethiopian Economics Association; Dr. Feyera Dinssa, President of Selale University; and Dr. Marye Belete, Academic Vice President of Woldia University. The ceremony took place in the presence of senior academic leaders attending the CEED workshop, including university presidents, deans, and heads of economics departments representing more than 23 universities across the country.
The agreements aim to strengthen institutional collaboration in key areas such as joint research, academic exchange, capacity building, and policy-oriented economic analysis. Through these partnerships, EEA and the two universities seek to enhance the quality and relevance of economics education and research, while fostering closer engagement between academia and policy processes.
The signing ceremony, held as part of the CEED conference program, underscored EEA’s commitment to expanding its network of partner universities and deepening collaboration within the national economics community. It also reflected the shared interest of Selale and Woldia Universities in actively engaging with CEED and contributing to collective efforts to advance economics scholarship in Ethiopia.
The MoUs mark an important step in consolidating CEED as a collaborative platform and reinforcing partnerships that support evidence-based policymaking and academic excellence across Ethiopian higher education institutions.
