The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) held its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan Review Workshop on 16 June 2026 at its Head Office in Addis Ababa. The event brought together representatives from government institutions, development partners, international organizations, academia, the private sector, and EEA leadership to review the Association’s strategic direction for the next five years.

Opening the workshop, Dr. Addis Kassahun, Vice President of EEA, emphasized the need for institutions to adapt to a rapidly changing global and national environment. Prof. Mengistu Ketema, Executive Director of EEA, presented the revised strategic plan, highlighting key global trends, including geopolitical shifts, artificial intelligence, climate change, digital transformation, and evolving development financing, and their implications for Ethiopia.

The workshop also featured presentations on EEA-IGA’s strategic direction and an independent review of the strategic plan led by Prof. Belay Kassa and Dr. Bezabih Emana. Participants provided valuable feedback to strengthen the strategy and enhance EEA’s role as a leading policy research and dialogue institution in Ethiopia.

The revised Strategic Plan (2026–2030) positions EEA to respond effectively to emerging global and national challenges while advancing evidence-based policy solutions for Ethiopia’s sustainable development.
