Dr. Tewodros Mekonnen has been a longstanding and valued member of the Ethiopian Economics Association, where he has served with distinction as a researcher, a member of the Executive Committee, and Editor-in-Chief of the Ethiopian Journal of Economics. In these roles, he has made significant contributions to advancing rigorous economic research, strengthening policy dialogue, and promoting evidence-based policymaking in Ethiopia.
With more than fifteen years of research and policy experience, and a PhD in Economics Research from the University of Leicester, Dr. Tewodros Mekonnen has established himself as a leading development economist, with expertise in applied microeconometrics and the Ethiopian economy. His professional experience spans respected institutions, including the Ethiopian Economic Policy Research Institute, the National Bank of Ethiopia, and the International Growth Centre, where he contributed to research and policy advisory work on growth and structural transformation.
His appointment to the Monetary Policy Committee represents a recognition of his expertise, integrity, and commitment to advancing sound economic policy.
