The Ethiopian Economics Association (EEA) provided capacity building training to the Oromia regional Bureau members on the Human Development Index (HDI) and Gender Development Index (GDI)
computation and uses. The main objective of the training was to enhance the capacity of regional experts on HDI and GDI relevance, computations and measurements, and to upsurge its uses in designing policy and implementation. Senior experts from Oromia Planning and Development Commission, Oromia Health Bureau and Oromia Education Bureau were the participants of the training. Dr. Adem Feto from the EEA side has provided the training from June 20-21, 2023 at the EEA training room. The training was focusing on existing development measurements, the construction and computation of HDI and GDI and uses and relevance of development measures in the region. Dr. Degye Goshu, the Director for Research and Policy Analysis of the EEA made the opening by emphasizing on the importance of indices in general and HDI and GDI in particular in the development measurements. The closing remark was addressed by Professor Mengistu Ketema, the CEO of EEA. He magnified the importance of collaboration in capacity building activities and promised to strengthen the partnership to next level in the future.
