The Ethiopian Economic Association (EEA) Presented Key findings of a research titled “Construction Industry, employment and Ethiopian economy” to the standing committee for infrastructure and transport, House of people representative on December 31st, 2023. The study was conducted by the EEA in collaboration with the Constriction Management Institute (CMI). Dr. Tsegaye Mulugeta and Mr. Ermias Engida presented key findings and policy implications of the study. In their presentation the researchers clearly pointed out the strong linkage of the construction sector with agriculture, service, industry, and other subsectors of the economy. According to the research findings, investment in the construction sector has a positive spillover effect and stimulates the growth of all other sectors in the economy.
Chair of the standing committee honorable Mrs. Shewit Shanka, on behalf of the committee, appreciated the EEA and CMI for conducting the research and called for the continuity of producing such kind of scientific evidence for informed policy making.
